Getting around

City core

The Drupal Camp will be held at the private University which is situated at the main crossroads of the city, as you can see in the map above (maybe drag down a bit to see the crossing).

North-South direction connects main railroad and bus station on the Northern side and Liberty bridge on the Southern side of the Bulevar Oslobođenja (Liberty boulevard). East-West direction connects heart of the city and Petrovaradin on the East to the road on the West that leads to Futog, Bačka Palanka and Croatia.

The city center is in 10 minutes walking distance from venue so there is no need to take any sort of transportation in order to get to the center of the city. When you cross street over Bulvd. Oslobođenja (to the East) you just walk straight and at the next traffic light starts pedestian area of the core city center. Starting with Serbian National Theatre, over Liberty Square where you can see Miletić monument and Catholic Cathedral and down the Zmaj Jovina street, where most shops and cafe bars are located. At the end of the street, by turning right, you continue to Dunavska street, where you can find more shops and cafe bars. Going further, you arrive to Danube park, where you can sit down and rest surrounded by trees.

People are mostly friendly and helpfull, and usually able to help you (in English language) if you are lost and in need for directions.

Communications

Serbian international dialing code is +381 and the city of Novi Sad has prefix 021 locally or +381 21 internationally. If you need it, you can buy prepaid card for mobile phone very cheap on every newsstand or tobacco shop.

Money and Exchange

Local currency is dinar and exchange rate is around 118 RSD (Serbian dinar) for 1 €. There are exchange offices almost everywhere, where you can legally exchange money and you may easily sell back local dinars for euro or US dollar. Many hard currencies are accepted, but the best count is on euro and US dollar. You may exchange 30-50€ for start and you'll be covered for the most of your needs.

Common prices

Drinks in bars are 150-400 din (~1-4€), fast food meals are 450-600 (~3-5€) and you can get complete lunch in fine restaurant with drink for less than 15€. Pack of average cigarettes is around 400 din (~2-3€), taxi fare for the most city rides are 400-600 din (~3-5€)
